Johan Gielen 22-8-2001 in Valkenburg

Just a normal evening in Valkenburg (Netherlands), a small dancing
(Dancing Ahoy) and a great DJ (Johan Gielen).....
Johan would play from 11.30 until 1.30, but at 11 o'clock he already
showed up... He took time to talk with everybody and he posed with me
for a picture. I asked him a few questions about new productions and
stuff.... He just came back from Tokyo and today was his first day again
in the studio, where he and his partner Sven Maes are busy with the
Svenson & Gielen album.... Because of this album and the time it takes
to produce they do not accept many remix offfers at this moment. But
later in his set I heard 2 new Airscape remixes, so they are still very
busy guys!.... he also told me that the new Svenson & Gielen single is
ready but he did not want to tell the title of the track.... but in
October we can probably hear it!.... It is the Theme song from Trance
Energy Heerenveen 20-10-2001! He also talked about the Ayumi Hamasaki 
remix he did for the track "Depend On Me"....
And then Johan started his set...... First track was current number 1 in
M's Magnificent 100, 4 Strings - Into The Night, followed by DJ Tiësto -
Flight 643.... I asked him if he could play his classic track
L'Esperanza too and he did!!! But in a very strange version, with vocals
from Whitney Houston - It's Alright, It's Okay..... He also mixed some
samples from The Beauty Of Silence with some other tracks... One track
he played had vocals like "To The Beach, South Beach", I asked him what
it was but Johan just smiled and said: "Promo"..... Other tracks he
played were Ian van Dahl - Castles In The Sky (Wippenberg Remix), System
F - Exhale, Yves Deruyter - Back To Earth, Barthezz - On The Move
(DuMonde Remix), Rank 1 - Such Is Life (Deep Dub), Taiko - Silence,
Underworld - Born Slippy (Trance Mix), DJ Tiësto - Urban Train and I
heard 2 tracks I never heard before..... Ultra - Free in Airscape
remix.... and Reach Me (an old Oleta Adams? track) in Airscape remix.....
They still know how to make marvellous remixes!.... He ended with Rank 1
- Such Is Life (Talla 2XLC Remix).... after that I congratulated him
with a great set!.... The end of a great night!
